The ins and outs of Invisalign® treatment
It’s hard to deny what having a great smile can do for your confidence, your mood, and the image you project to others. Smiles just make the world better! If you dream of tweaking your imperfect smile, Invisalign treatment may be the perfect solution for you.
There’s a lot to love about Invisalign clear aligners, and Ross Orthodontics is here to guide you through the process from start to finish. Keep reading to learn more about how this life-changing (and smile-changing) orthodontic treatment can benefit you.
Your Ross orthodontist uses 3D technology to create a series of custom-made aligners that gently shift and straighten your teeth into place over time. Each set of aligners are typically worn for 1-2 weeks. Best of all, the aligners are practically invisible and removable–allowing you to continue enjoying your favorite foods, drinks, and activities throughout the course of treatment.f
The most common conditions that we treat with Invisalign aligners include:
- Smile tweaks or minor corrections
- Crowded teeth
- Crooked teeth
- Protruding teeth
- Spaces or gaps between teeth
With Invisalign, the average treatment time is between 12-24 months; and the end result: a gorgeous smile!
Who are the best candidates for Invisalign treatment?
Invisalign aligners are a great option for many people, but especially teens and adults who want to conceal their orthodontic treatment and appreciate the flexibility that Invisalign treatment offers.
Invisalign is ideal for candidates who:
- Are willing and able to wear the aligners for at least 20-22 hours a day (you can take them out to eat or for special occasions like a wedding or job interview, but you have to put them back in!)
- Are looking for a discreet, barely noticeable orthodontic treatment option which provides clear results
- Are looking to improve their smile even just a little bit
- Do not have any serious dental issues that might require more advanced treatment methods
Want to know for sure? The very best way to find out if you’re a good candidate for Invisalign treatment is to schedule a free consultation with Ross Orthodontics, so we can explore all your options.
Daily life with Invisalign aligners
Your mouth will need a little time to adjust to the feel of your aligners, so you may have a day or two of temporary soreness. It should go away quickly though!
As mentioned above, you’ll need to wear your Invisalign aligners for most of the day and while you sleep. But you can (and should) take them out when you eat or drink anything besides water. They must also be removed to brush and floss your teeth.
Otherwise, daily life with Invisalign aligners is pretty much like not having any orthodontic treatment at all! You can easily remove your aligners for events like prom, graduation, yearbook photos, work presentations, important meetings, and more. If you’re an athlete or musician, your aligners can also come out when you play (whether it’s sports or an instrument). Just be sure to always put them in a safe place and contact your Ross orthodontist if they get lost.
Not sure if Invisalign aligners will be a good fit (literally) for your teen? With the Invisalign Teen Guarantee, if you’re not satisfied within the first six months of treatment, you can switch to traditional braces at no additional charge.
How Invisalign treatment impacts your smile
Invisalign treatment gently shifts and aligns your teeth and jaws through SmartTrack™ technology. SmartTrack is a clear aligners material engineered for one thing—to move your teeth more precisely and comfortably.
When your Invisalign treatment is overseen by a Ross orthodontist, you are working with a preferred provider . As specialists in the alignment of teeth and jaws, orthodontists are trained to anticipate situations which may arise over the span of your treatment. This specialization, coupled with personalized treatment plans and refinements throughout the process, will leave you with the smile you’ve always wanted.
To keep your new, confident smile in place for a lifetime, your next step will be wearing a retainer as prescribed by your Ross orthodontist. Be sure to clean your retainer each day, brush and floss twice a day, and schedule regular dental check-ups to maintain your oral health.
What it costs
All Invisalign treatment plans are customized to your unique needs, so costs vary based on the complexity of your case. After an initial consultation, we can give you a much better idea of the total cost of your treatment.
